- Wish someone was happy to see you pull in and eager to get you back on the road.
- Think management should learn your name and how you want to drive.
- Want to be recognized (and paid) for holding yourself to a higher standard.

More Miles, Better Pay
Earn more with safe, consistent miles
At Savannah Transport, OTR company drivers run 2,700 to 3,000 miles weekly. Our average company driver makes $80,000 annually, while top drivers earn up to $110,000.
Driving more safe miles builds a bigger paycheck.
- Driving 10,000 safe miles in a month earns you a bonus of $0.03 per mile on all of the month’s miles.
- If you drive 13,000 safe miles during the month, you instead receive a bonus of $0.05 per mile on all of the month’s miles.
- Should you reach 15,000 miles for the month, your Safe Miles Bonus is $0.06 per mile on all of the month’s miles.
Always on the Move
Because truck drivers hate waiting for a load
After all, you don’t rack up miles while hanging out at the dock.
You needn’t worry about time wasted at customer and waste management facilities. Some of our hazmat CDL drivers even say they’re greeted and treated like royalty when they pull up. For a professional driver, that means being treated with the respect a skilled professional deserves, then rapidly sent rolling toward higher pay.
Our drivers don’t sit in truck stops waiting for loads over the weekend, either. You’re free to move on!
Flexible Home Time
A driver-managed policy
Savannah Transport has one of the most flexible, driver-managed home time policies in the industry. For every seven days out, you earn 1.5 days off. If you stay out for a longer period, you can take all accrued days off at the same time. You also can combine them with your paid vacation time.
Well-Equipped Tractors
All the extras except cameras
Savannah Transport’s fleet is comprised largely of late-model Freightliners — all automatics. Each tractor has Sirius radio, an APU, Nextraq Telematics and a refrigerator. We do not install inward or outward-facing cameras in our trucks.
Stressing Safety
The target: violation-free
At Savannah Transport, we emphasize driver safety. We hire only the best OTR hazmat drivers, and this is directly reflected in their top CSA scores. In fact, veteran drivers like Shane Payton consider their years of violation-free driving a point of pride. (Listen to him talk about it when we interviewed him about his CDL hazmat truck driver job.)
Respected Leader in Hazmat Hauling
Nearly three decades of excellence
Since its founding in 1996, Savannah Transport has set itself apart as a leading player in the trucking industry. We’re known and respected for our work hauling hazardous materials.
Our drivers haul freight from all states west of the Mississippi River and some Midwestern states. Our team of highly skilled, professional drivers hauls paint, solvents, and other industry-produced hazardous materials in 53′ vans.
Maintaining our reputation for excellence is among our top priorities. Therefore, we hire only the best and most responsible OTR professionals for our hazmat CDL truck driver jobs.
The Secret to Reliable Equipment
Hoyt’s Truck Center
Our “road-ready” checklist
- Installing GPS Nextraq system and all DOT hazmat signage
- Checking alignment
- Brake and light inspections, greasing when necessary
- Toolbox installation
- Stocking of fluids and lubricants
– Diesel fuel supplement
– Antifreeze

Chris Nocktonick, the service manager at Hoyt’s Truck Center, oversees the process.
“Because all the trucks and trailers come here first, Savannah Transport rarely, if ever, has breakdowns. We want the same success for the Savannah drivers as they do for themselves, so it works out pretty well.” — Chris Nocktonick
Long-term partnership
Chris and his service team take a proactive approach to tracking drivers’ ongoing maintenance needs. When a vehicle is due for service, they contact the driver to schedule an appointment for their next pass through Topeka.
The service team’s goal is to keep equipment running safely and smoothly every mile it’s on the road. Our company’s and drivers’ success demands nothing less. According to our drivers, Hoyt’s team continually upholds the same high standards as the professionals who take on our hazmat truck driver jobs. This level of trust and cooperation between truck drivers and technicians is a testament to a fantastic partnership.
